The law firm ARQIS has recently started maintaining premises in Berlin: ARQIS lawyers Dr. Friedrich Gebert and Dr. Astrid Seehafer are the ideators behind the new “Talent Hub”.
The “Talent Hub Berlin” is a place that offers ARQIS lawyers space to work in Berlin-Mitte. However, the idea behind the hub goes further: “The talent hub is intended to make ARQIS more attractive for talents of the next generation – associates, trainee lawyers and research assistants – in Berlin,” explains Friedrich Gebert. Astrid Seehafer adds: “There are few cities in Germany with a comparable attraction and number of highly motivated talents, also in the legal field. We are building a new kind of bridge for them with the talent hub.”
The hub acts as a kind of docking station for (aspiring) lawyers who do not want to move away from Berlin and at the same time want to work for the Big Law boutique ARQIS. Those who work under the ARQIS flag in Berlin are contractually linked to the Düsseldorf or Munich office and assigned to a team there. The current six workstations in the offices located at Gendarmenmarkt are fully integrated into the firm’s IT infrastructure. There is no on-site support from business services such as reception or assistance, but there is a start-up spirit and plenty of freedom. “We don’t have the classic office atmosphere, but we offer significantly more points of contact than those law firms that allow their employees to work
in a home office on a permanent basis,” explain the hub founders, who both work predominantly in Berlin but regularly travel to Düsseldorf for exchanges with their law firm colleagues.
With at least two new colleagues, ARQIS would like to fill the desks in the hub in the short to medium term. “First of all, we are looking for law students and graduates who would like to cover our areas of expertise here in Berlin, i.e. public commercial law, environmental law, ESG as well as product liability,” says Friedrich Gebert. “Anyone who is confident in working on challenging mandates and very independently, and at the same time has the relevant professional qualifications, is cordially invited to apply for our hub,” says Astrid Seehafer.
