ARQIS has advised Landmarken AG, seated in Aachen, on the sale of two modern real estates at the campus of RWTH Aachen University (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen) to an SDAX listed real estate investor. ARQIS has advised Landmarken AG, seated in Aachen, on the sale of two modern real estates at the campus of RWTH Aachen University (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen) to an SDAX listed real estate investor. The sale is made by way of a share deal. The accrued property value of both properties amounts to approximately EUR40m.
Both six-storey buildings are part of the research clusters Smart Logistics and Photonics of the campus of RWTH University Aachen that provide mostly modern office spaces, accompanied by research, gastronomy and storage areas. In 2014, the Smart Logistic building was completed and provides a rental space of approximately 9,500 square metres. Recently, it has been awarded by the German Association of Sustainable Construction (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB)) with the category gold for especial sustainability. The Photonics building, in which they research e.g. on modern laser technology, has about 7,200 square metres and is supposed to be completed at the beginning of 2016. In this property, Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is one of the major tenants. Intention of RWTH Aachen Campus is to intensify the integration of economy and science. In this context, approximately 10,000 new jobs are supposed to be created, some of which have already been realised.
Norbert Hermanns, CEO of Landmarken AG, considers this project as being even more than a great success for RWTH Aachen Campus and the science location Aachen: “With the research buildings used jointly by economy and science as planned on RWTH Aachen Campus, an entirely new class of real estate has been created. Now this demonstrates that this class of real estate offers attractive investment opportunities.”
ARQIS regularly advises Landmarken AG on issues regarding real estate law, especially on the disposal of property developments.
