ARQIS advises Orcan Energy in third round of financing and conversion to a stock corporation
01. October 2015
ARQIS Rechtsanwälte has successfully advised the Munich CleanTech-company Orcan Energy AG in its third round of financing and in the transformation of the company into a stock corporation (Aktiengesellschaft).
Orcan Energy AG offers complete solutions for the energy efficiency optimisation of industrial processes and motor systems. The Munich-based company was founded in 2008 and has approximately 50 employees.
Orcan Energy has carried out its third round of financing in two stages. In the first stage, alongside the existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers (KPCB), Wellington Partners and E.ON, the Swiss investment house Quadia, which specialises in financing in the environmental field, participated.
In the second stage, among the investors, ALIAD, the venture capital arm of the Air Liquide Group, the global market leader in gases, technologies and services for industry and health, participated. Alongside E.ON, Air Liquide is the second strategic investor to participate in Orcan Energy AG.
With the participation of Air Liquide, Orcan Energy demonstrates the attractiveness of the technology developed for generating electricity from waste heat in the industrial environment. Together with Air Liquide, the Munich-based CleanTech-company plans to offer innovative solutions for energy-efficient electricity generation from waste heat. The electricity generation modules of the ePack series marketed by Orcan Energy AG are among the most advanced, efficient and economical technology solutions on the market.
ARQIS Partner, Prof. Dr. Christoph von Einem, has advised Orcan Energy since the foundation of company, in particular also in the past two rounds of financing. In connection with the third round of financing, ARQIS has also comprehensively advised the company on its conversion into a stock corporation. In view of the increased number of shareholders, the conversion serves to create clear structures. Orcan Energy has thus now undertaken the financial and organisational preparations for growth in the still virtually untapped waste heat market.
