ARQIS advises Katjes Group on participation in Veganz
05. September 2016
ARQIS has advised the Katjes Group on its entry in Veganz, Europe’s pioneer for vegan foods. For this, five percent of the shares in Veganz were acquired by Katjesgreenfood GmbH & Co. KG, a legally independent investment company of the Katjes Group.
Katjesgreenfood was only recently set up to invest in the rapidly growing market for sustainable foods. Outside of the confectionary market, only minority holdings are to be acquired.
Veganz has developed within a few years to become the market leader for vegan foods. In so doing, the young company puts particular emphasis on taste, sustainability and fairness. The concept has caught on, and since spring of this year Veganz has not only sold its products in Germany, but also in other European countries.
“Since the conversion of our entire Katjes range to ‘veggie’ (by doing without animal gelatin) we are aware of the strong consumer interest in a meat-reduced diet. Therefore, we also want to invest here outside our traditional confectionery range”, Tobias Bachmüller, managing partner of Katjesgreenfood, explained.
ARQIS regularly works for the Katjes Group. The law firm already advised the confectionary manufacturer in 2014 on the takeover of the sugar-coated sweet manufacturer Piasten and in 2012 on the acquisition of the sweet manufacturer Dallmann.
