ARQIS advised New York Pizza on the acquisition of German pizza chain Stückwerk. This will add 32 retail outlets to the to the existing two Cologne pizzerias of New York Pizza – a leading pizza chain in The Netherlands.
New York Pizza now operates a total of 268 franchised outlets across The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. As recently as June, the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla bought the majority stake of New York Pizza. Orkla also owns the Kotipizza chain, which operates 289 locations across Finland.
“Germany is a highly attractive market for us. New York Pizza opened its first store in Cologne in 2014 and the acquisition of Stückwerk strengthens our presence significantly. Our ambition is to continue growing our footprint both organically and structurally when we see attractive opportunities,” says Kenneth Haavet, EVP Orkla Consumer & Financial Investments and chairman of New York Pizza.
ARQIS was originally recommended by the Dutch law firm Florent, which advises New York Pizza regularly in The Netherlands. The team around ARQIS partner Dr. Jörn-Christian Schulze won the subsequent pitch.
